Part 5: Fo Shan/ Shun De

Day 6 (Cont.):
we then left guangzhou for Fo Shan.
the journey was abt another 1.5 hrs

I couldn't recall the number of toilets we visited and we had to queue,
exclaim,
roll up our pants (super unglam)...
to me, it's an experience that I was actually quite looking forward to
we don't get to experience it in sg, do we? ;)

Foshan Zhu Miao:

Mr Wong.

the lady in brown was overjoyed when her coin was dropped onto the tortoise
it means that her wish will come true
congrats!

another of my proudest shot =X

Memorial Hall of Huang Feihong:

it's actually a very small place.

Well, i got to see how the REAL Huang Fei Hong looks like.
very amazed by his past.

Day 7:

had a hard time waking up,
but I still managed to do it!
hahaha. did my last-min packing and off we go!

hahahaha.
and we're visiting a furniture fair.
winnie's supposed to do an article on this
so I helped to take a lot of picsss!

eliz and I while waiting for the tour guides to get our entry passes
It's SO cold lah.
she looks so cute rite?

yes, it WAS very cold.

Chinese Export Commodities Fair - Canton Fair Trade Service (For Overseas Buyer)

pics at the fair.
I think we're not supposed to take pictures =X

The place is HUGE which many exhibition units from the various brands.
You can get ALL the furniture you wan there..
and the prices are not very high.
Ms Ng said that the children's furniture are VERY cute.

We saw many businessmen, often accompanied by probably a local guide(?!) or business partner, holding brochures and calculators on hand, walking around in their business suits. As they are bulk purchasing, they should be very meticulous with numbers, be it the quantity of products or the prices.

I also saw the different sales techniques performed eg. distributing brochures, paper bags, nicely decorated display units/booths, well-dressed sales personnel (from professional to cultural feel).
However, I feel that some of them overdid it, so much so that the focus was on how pretty their booth were being decorated/themed instead of on their products. Well, perhaps it is only me who felt it, but I feel that each brand should have focused on their products.

Went to the 钟表市场 after that.
and there was some incident that happened.
To me, it's veryunforgettable.
Though the vendor was aggressive,
it's just their way of life and we can't do anything about it.
I mean, it's their culture!

travelled to Shun De after that.
The journey was (again) very long.
Ttill the seventh day, I still have not learn to sleep on the bus.

Yong Xiang Furniture

Established in the 1980s, the factory in Shun De currently employs 30 workers. This is an assembly branch; it is being separated from another factory due to pollution being too high. The materials: Xiang Jiao Mu from Hai Nan and cloth from Zhejiang. Products of Yong Xiang can be truly labelled "Made in China" as right from the design to the manufacturing, are done in China. Sofas, being their specialised product, are sold 2000-3000 sets per year, which earns a turnover of a few million for the company. 80% of the products are exports to Europe, North America, Middle East.

Learning Points:
1) As I have said in the previous entry, that the PRD also faces problems like shortages. In this case, it is the lack in energy. As a result, there will be 2-3 days in a week where they had to depend on their own generators for power consumption. Hence, every industry faces different problems. In the case of the furnishing industry, power is vital for manufacturing.
2) "Guan xi" is not as important in all industries in China. Yong Xiang Furniture chose to focus more on the quality of products instead.
3) There are certain "off-peak" seasons where businesses may have to think of strategies to improve their sales.

After that, ms ng, bY, stephie, win and I went for "market research" together.
Don't think i bought anything cos the main aim was to
FIND A CAKE!

Meanwhile, we saw laoyao twice when we were walking ard.
it was quite fated or something
and we found out that, he was also looking for a cake
and it was for e same person !
hahahahahaha

When we saw him finally again,
he was in this dessert shop,
so we were like, dash in!
cos i'm SO a desert person.

Earlier of the day, we had guangzhou's famous dessert - 姜汁撞奶 (Ginger milk with Pure Buffalo milk)
I noe this sounds disgusting.
that's how I felt when xiao deng told us about it a few days back.
he told us that it looks like our TAU HUAY
and there was one who hated it at first, ate more than 5 bowls after that!
so when i took the first sip...
MAN. I was so in love with it lah.. perhaps it was after a fulfilling lunch also (which is rare).

thus, when there was a dessert shop,
RUN!!!

I ordered another of their speciality 双皮奶。
and laoyao kept making fun of it as 二奶..
so we were like.. keep laughing
having a hot dessert in a chilled weather was WOO

finally, we found a bakery.
Bought a cake!

After some changes in the celebration,
we decided to celebrate it at 12 midnight.
Winnie helped in co-ordinating cos I felt a quite fever-ish already.
It's so funny, cos andrea called us last min, so there was a little change of plans.

and so, we went to Ms Ng's room

laoyao was good at HA-LA-ing at the beginning..
until it was 11.55,
andrea then knew, we were celebrating her bdae.

andrea's 20th bdae cake

singing of the bdae song..

touched to tears

aiyo. her face 肿肿的。

me, drea and beth didn't noe how to cut cake.
hahahaha. so had to ask christine (mummy) to help.

bdae gal eating the biggest slice of choc

hahahaha! I forgot why we take this pic.
But it was fun!

Day 8:

I've fallen ill, hence I did not go for any company visit/sight seeing.
Tried copying notes from my friend,
but, you know, it's hard to understand other people's notes and scribblings.
Hence, no learning points for 顺特电气 and 火炬开发区.
sorry! =(

miss the good times;
